This is an animation I made for Stichting Droomwevers (in English: Dream Gathering Foundation), a foundation that produces educational animations, songs and books for young children, who contacted a couple of freelance animators including myself some time ago. They asked me to make a short animation about either an animal or a plant that had to introduce the first letter of the chosen subject to the audience (read: little kids). Here we have the dog (hond in Dutch, hence the H). It'll be released on a DVD along with the other animations in the near future.

Oh and that's supposed to be a bone in the though balloon, clearly it's not visible to the human eye here on dA XD

I hope you enjoy it, despite not being a member of the target group yourself (I presume! XD)

I also got contacted by Droomwevers. I searched on the internet for more info, that's how I discovered your movie :)

Very cute movie !!
My favourite part is the top view, when the camera turns in a circle.

Not yet, I just mailed them back that I want to make a 15 seconds animation for them and that I have to think about the 90 seconds one. (They asked for both). So now I'm waiting for more info.

Good to hear! Funny though, last time I talked to them they told me the deadline for the animation was back in December. They must've changed it. Good luck with everything though! (:

As far as I know there are 2 small animations left and 1 song-animation. The deadline for those animations is april 15, so I guess the DVD will be completed in may :)

It did not take that long, actually. This is not animated Disney-style (drawing every single movement frame by frame, 25 frames per second times 20 seconds = LOT OF DRAWINGS). I basically just made its head, body, upper- and lower leg, the feet, the tail and the facial details, linked each of them to his body. Whenever I moved his body, all the objects that were linked to it moved, too. Although the small movements still need to be animated, this handy feature already saves a lot of time :D

Not one's like that.
Not anymore anyway, we used to have one's for teaching the alphabet but they got rid of them and use a different way now.. And it's a lot less fun D:

D8 that's a shame. What better way to teach than with animations? <3
I blame Cartoon Network for teaching me English, and that is not a bad thing :D
